FUSS is honored to support IBM in promoting the cause of addressing Natural Disaster Preparedness Relief through its special Hackathon event on May 4, 2019.
What is Call for Code?
Call for Code is a worldwide, multi-year global initiative that inspires developers to drive positive and long-lasting change, and solve pressing global problems with sustainable software solutions.
What is the Goal of “Call for Code” Hackathon?
IBM is joined by The American Red Cross and The United Nations Human Rights Office combined with The Linux Foundation, Node.js Foundation, and many others to unite the world’s developers around a common cause of Natural Disaster Preparedness and Relief.
In recognition of Wildfire Community Preparedness Day on May 4, IBM and 42 Silicon Valley are teaming up to host a one-day hackathon to inspire developers, engineers, designers, and emergency responders to create solutions around Natural Disaster Preparedness and Relief during wildfires with a focus on community health and well-being.
What is the Global Award?
The winner of the first Call for Code Global Award in 2018 received $200,000, open source project support from The Linux Foundation, an introduction to a venture capital firm, and piloted their solution in Puerto Rico through the IBM Code and Response™ initiative. This year, it’s your turn.
Who should Participate?
All interested developers in the Bay Area and beyond are invited to participate on Saturday, May 4, for the Call for Code Hackathon – California Wildfires. Will you answer the call?
How do you Participate?
As a Call for Code satellite event, the hackathon provides a chance for you to dedicate time to brainstorm, plan, and start building your submission for the Global Challenge, which closes on July 29. Projects built at the hackathon will be judged at the end of the day for a local grand prize.
The hackathon will be held on the 42 Silicon Valley campus in Fremont, California from 8am to 6pm. Register today to reserve your spot: http://ibm.biz/Bd2WTM
If you are part of a team, be sure to have your team name available at the time you register. If you don’t have a team, you will have a chance to meet other hackers and build your team onsite.
